Line your lips:
Lining your lips with a lip liner that matches the color you will be putting on your lips will keep the red from bleeding. Red lipstick is notorious for bleeding and this simple step will save you a tone of hassle.
Matte or shine? Which will you choose:
It really depends on the look you are going for. Lipsticks with some shine or a lip gloss can add some sexy appeal to your lips, making them appear plump and kissable. But a nice matte red may feel more comfortable as your lips won’t walk in before you.
Match the undertone to your undertone:
If you are olive toned or very yellow toned you may not wish to use a really blue based lip color. But if you choose a really warm toned lipstick and you are blue toned your lips could enter the room before you. So choose a red that is bold but complimentary for your skin tone.
What brand is best? :
I am a fan of many brands and colors. MAC is definitely a good brand, but then so is NARS and one of my personal favorites is VIP-CAT’s Tempest Lip Gel. It has the drama of a red a lipstick with a nice shine and softness of a gloss.
